Group of military cadets

A group of cadets, presumably taken at a training camp or similar. They appear to have a variety of caps including some Seaforth. We can't identify the badge they are all wearing, which is a ring with a figure of a standing animal inside. The picture was taken by a Perth photographer and the date is a guess.
19 April 2005.

Regarding the hat badge, , , I seem to recall the Army cadets from sutherland shire having a cap badge .. being a circle with a standing Bear with the words ..Sans Puer (or similar)..whereas we in Rosshire had the Seaforth Badge....

Can't see any Seaforth badges in the picture. Seaforth ACF had the stags head with motto below the head.

The badge you refer to is/was the badge of the 5th Battalion Seaforth Highlanders in W.W.II

The motto Sans Puer meaning Without Fear.

One of my late uncles served with this regiment all The way from El-Alamein to the River Elbe.

Unfortunately this doesn't solve the mystery of the picture, good as it is.
