I remember as a little girl my father telling me stories of using the TALKING STONE or FREE SPEECH STONE which was outside the Town House (still is I believe) you could stand on this and voice your opinion on anything and as long as you were standing on it, no Police Officer could grab you, but when you stepped off it you would have to MAKE A RUN FOR IT!!!!!!.......does my memory as a child ring any bells. Oh by the way my father was called Leslie Williamson
