This was my uncle and this is taken when he was POW in Stalag V111B. He is seated far right, middle row. He is also in the picture #45.

My Great Uncle Peter Calder (Pat) is in the front row second from the right I think - it certainly looks like him. He is also in picture #45 (definitely) although he is incorrectly named as Paul Calder middle row. The Calders lived in Esk Cottages and then 1 Gordon Terrace. I have done some research at Fort George too and they pointed me in the direction of the Dingwall Museum. The reason there is not much to go on at Fort George is apparently because the battalion diaries and other documents were either buried, lost or captured with the (4th) battalion so there is no "official" written record other than eyewitness accounts and accounts from personal diaries of what happened leading up to the mass capture on June 12th. There are a few family stories about some of Pat's escapades and escapes as a POW and always curious to hear more.

I think the man sitting in the middle row second from the right could be my uncle Bob Speed. Am I correct in assuming that the 19 men pictured in Stalag V111B are all that survived from the 32 soldiers in picture #45?

Dave, did you work for the railway for a while at Invergordon? I seem to recall a Jockie Calder also.

Harry, Jockie Calder was my great uncle Donald; Pat's brother nicknamed Jockie after his father. I am a couple of generations below Jockie, Pat etc, but they may have worked on the railway at one time, I'm not sure.
