Admirality Pier and Invergordon to the West

The ship at the Harbour is loading pipes from MK Shands' yard that was behind Saltburn. The smaller ship at the base looks like the 'Renfrew', one of the first off-Shore pollution control vessels.
It is thought that the picture was taken around 1982.

This pic shows some interesting history perhaps worth recording.
The vessel on the beach between Dockyard and Centre Piers was an old Admiralty boom defence vessel (non propelled) known locally as The Rustbucket and employed by Metrec of Newhaven to salvage scrap metal from the wreck of HMS Natal. Rustbucket herself was broken up on completion of the work.
The two larger vessels on the west inner arm of the Dockyard pier are HM Air Force Vessels Seal and Seagull. The smaller vessels lying astern were probably also HMAFVs.
The tug on the inside of the Dockyard pier looks like J P Knights Kinross which arrived in Invergordon in 1981.
