Am I right in thinking this was taken at the back of the now Art Centre?

Correct - the steps were the stage door entrance to the old Picture House - now the Arts Centre.

Must be well before 1965 as I left in 65 and Gordon Gibson is about 6 years older than me. He is my cousin and 3rd from left in picture.

1st right in middle row is Phyllis Morrison who sadly died a few years ago.

Back row right is Donald (Duffy) Ferguson who sadly is no longer with us. Front row right is Dudley Bain who also sadly died at a very young age. Middle row left is Donald Dingwall. The year is about 1955/56.

Paul Kennedy, better known as Masher, is 4th from left in back row. He emigrated to Aussie in the early 60s.

Please note....the 1st boy on the back row is Roy Jensen and the 2nd is Ashley MacKenzie. Ashley and Yvonne (Hillis) married in 1965 and emigrated to Canada in 1966.
The 2nd from the end on the top row is Alex Sutherland.

Interesting to note that there at least eight of the pupils (3boys/5 girls) in this photo originally from the Kildary, Milton and Barbaraville area and although they were some six years ahead of me I remember them all well. Roy Jewnsen had a younger brother, Billy who was the same age as me, when we all lived in Kildary. Ian Ross lived there to as he grew up and of course Eddie Finlay lives there now with his family.
