Pilot Boat

One of the pilot boats used in the Cromarty Firth. The date of this picture is unknown but probably dates back to the 1960s or 1970s.

Comments

I think this may have been one of the last Admiralty pilot boats stationed at Invergordon. The tug or standby vessel in the background would probably date it to late 70s or early 80s.

The tug in the background is the Kinluce, based here in the early eighties. I came across her off Lowestoft in 1988 approx., whilst down there on another ship. The boat in the foreground is the old pilot boat.

It might help to date picture from the tug Kinluce owned By J P Knight/Caledonian Towage between 1978 and 1988, and based at Invergordon. Built for United Towing of Hull in 1966 as Welshman.
