We think she used to go round with a little dog. She wasn't married (to our knowledge) and lived in one of the three cottages down from Ness Cottage, which have all been demolished, next to the Natal Gardens.

Caroline, if Lena lived on Shore Road then who was the lady who lived in the house diagonally across from Ness Cottage, same side as Dunns the Plumbers on Clyde Street ? I thought it was Lena but obviously I've got that wrong.

Rosalie, the lady who lived in the house diagonally opposite Ness Cottage was a Mrs MacKay. Remember she had two sons Sandy and Billy MacKay. Sadly Sandy died some years ago. She also had two older daughters, Retta and Nana. Retta was Amelia Muckle's mother. An old lady lived next door to them in the corner house. Her name was Annie Martin. I don't know if you would remember her as she died long ago. Hope this is helpful.

Eileen, the name Annie Martin brings back memories - we stayed next door..same house as the Mackays before moving to the prefabs in Joss Street around 1947....do you remember the Travers that stayed on the same side as yourself..next door if I'm remembering correctly?...did Joe Travers not sell fish from a hand cart??

Eileen, thanks for that info. Yes, I do remember Annie Martin now, thanks for jogging my memory!!! Yes, of course I remember Mrs Mackay and all the family. Many happy hours I spent there with my best friend Amelia.

Sandy Mackay's mother was called Lexie. I can't remember her but my gran had the YMCA and used to live at 65 Clyde Street before moving to Viewfirth (now Foxes). Annie Martin went into hospital and gran had her to stay for a while to recuperate. In the end she stayed with my grandparents until she moved into the Isobel Fraser Home of Rest in Inverness. I think she was a music teacher - I remember a piano in the cottage in Clyde Street.
