Aerial view of Invergordon

It is thought that this aerial view was taken around 1975. The photographer is unknown.
M.K. Shand can be seen behind Saltburn (upper right of the photo) while the British Aluminium Smelter is at the the back of the town (top left of the photo).
The swimming pool can be seen on the foreshore, middle right. The picture contains many interesting features long since gone.

I was born in Dingwall - most of young life spent in town (Invergordon). Moved to Canada in 1969 (age 12 - teacher Mrs Willson). Address: 41 "A" High Street and 14 King George Street. The smelter was a topic as a lad. Unfortunately someone would have to point out landmarks to me as there are things I do not recognize - exept the inlet/harbour bottom-left - although some parts are missing. But can still see the pylons that were the extention arms to the pier. Use to fish off it and if not mistaken a ferry also departed to the Black Isle.
Old class mates give me a shout...Elane Ross...Robert McVitty...Tumphy Kennedy..anyone who recognizes my name.

There are several pictures showing the Ferry. Just put in 'Ferry' in the SEARCH field at the top right of the opening page.
